Paredes doesn’t blame ref

Captain Javier Paredes has described Real Zaragoza as 'disappointed but confident' after the weekend loss to Getafe.

Only their goal difference is keeping the Blanquillos out of the drop zone after Saturday's bad tempered 1-0 defeat to the Azulones at La Romareda, Manolo Jimenez's men ending the game with nine men.

“We are disappointed by the outcome on Saturday but confident about the team's work,” Paredes commented at a Press conference today.

“The referee influenced the result, but this is football, and sometimes we benefit from decisions.”

The former Oviedo defender went on to suggest that anyone that doesn't appreciate his value, doesn't understand the game.

“I'd say that a person who knows a lot about football knows what I'm worth. I'm very happy with my performance, recently I was the player who recovered the most balls.

“I do not care about the calendar. Eventually you have to play everyone and you can get unexpected results, like last season when we won at Mestalla.”

Zaragoza face some difficult fixtures when they return from the international break, away to Granada, at home to Sevilla and away to Real Madrid.
