Mel delighted for Betis win

Pepe Mel was left delighted with Real Betis’ win over Real Sociedad, which saw the Andalucians move up the table once more.

After a difficult few results, Mel’s side picked up three points on Saturday evening and have temporarily moved up to fourth place in the table.

“What really matters are the points, which are what you can earn,” reflected Mel after the game.

“I am excited by three things – first by winning against a team of home grown players such as La Real, when Betis had five of their own too, for Adrian [who made his first start in goal], I am proud of all the players and for the communion between the fans and the team.

“The fans have been a 10 out of 10 again, because they understood that in the end we needed them.

“The team, with its shortcomings and defects, which are obvious, are still moving ahead in games, and that’s good, because the team will be better when we are looser, more relaxed.

“We are happy because we have 12 points and kept a clean sheet against a great team.”
