JIM: Win is special for fans

Juan Ignacio Martinez believes his Levante players deserved their derby win over Valencia today, declaring that it means more for their fans too.

Los Granotes leapfrogged their city neighbours with three points in the noon kick-off and for their Coach, it was just desserts.

“I want to congratulate my players, they were each a 10, they gave me honour. Our fans will have a good lunch today,” JIM declared today.

“We have played some good games here at home, away we need to be more consistent too. We are glad to finish today with a clean sheet.

“The difference is that emotionally for Levante’s fans this win is very special. Certainly many Levantinistas will celebrate today.

“For us it means a lot, the players are aware that it is something special, but it is also still just three points. For our morale this win is very special.”

The Coach then turned his attention towards goalscorer Obafemi Martins.

“Martins will give us that extra burst clear, his speed is one of our strengths when the team is ahead.

“We took risks against Valencia, we were brave and in the end we could have scored more goals near the end through Ruben and Pedro Rios.

“Martins’ signing is a tremendous effort from the sporting management at the club, but I do not want to pick out just Martins as it would be disrespectful to the others. Everyone gave their all.”
