Valencia hold out against Zaragoza

Valencia have picked up a second League win of the season by defeating Real Zaragoza 2-0 on Saturday afternoon with 10 men.

The home side took the lead through Sofiane Feghouli’s second bite at the cherry in finishing off Tino Costa’s flick-on from an Aly Cissokho cross into the area.

It was an even first half in which the visitors more than once threatened to equalise, but they were made to rue their missed chances when Jonathan Viera netted his first goal for Los Che on the hour mark, who capitalised on neat work from Roberto Soldado and a rebound from Jonas’ original effort.

However, this was immediately followed by Feghouli’s second yellow card, seeing the remaining half an hour played out for the home side with 10 men.

Even where visiting Coach Manolo Jimenez reacted with three substitutions and his side created more chances by the end of the game, they failed to really test Valencia ‘keeper Vicente Guaita.
