Gago glad to be back

Fernando Gago has admitted that he struggled after his recent head injury, but is delighted to now be back playing with Valencia.

The Argentine played a full 90 minutes in today’s 2-0 win over Real Zaragoza, marking his comeback after a head injury sustained whilst on international duty with Argentina in mid-September.

However, he refused to suggest that the team’s return to winning ways was a direct result of his return.

“I think we all add to the side. You cannot say anyone made a mistake. This is a team. Results were not food for the past few weeks, so we had to win today,” he said post match, before reflecting on his injury.

“When I received the knock I had not really wanted to play football or do anything, but after a few days had passed I was eager again. I do not remember the game but now I am only thinking about playing.”

The midfielder then turned his attention to today’s game and what the result could signify.

“During the first 30 minutes we played the way we wanted, very easily, but after the red card we had to change things, but with 10 we were still the better.

“I have blind faith in my teammates. The truth is that this team wants to fight, everyone wants to win. we have to start at the back to break the poor run and now continue this positive momentum.”
