Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente has admitted that he was pleased to return to San Mames, despite the team's 1-1 draw with Hapoel Kiryat Shmona.
The Spain international hasn't played at the ground for over a month, having conceded he will consider his future at Los Leones in January.
But the 27-year-old has reiterated his pleasure at returning to the stadium for tonight’s opening Europa League group game.
“I really wanted to play here,” he told reporters afterwards. “I wanted to play on my pitch. It was a shame I couldn't score a goal, but helping out the team was exciting.
“It was a shame we drew. We had a lot of chances, but we never stopped trying.
“The important thing is not my future, but to focus on the team. With hard work, everything will be good.”
