‘Aduriz and Llorente cause fear’

Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oscar de Marcos says the front pairing of Aritz Aduriz and Fernando Llorente strike fear into defenders.

Aduriz scored a brace in the 3-3 draw at Espanyol last weekend, with Llorente coming off the bench to net the other following his contract dispute with the club over the summer.

It is a partnership that De Marcos insists can unsettle any opposition defence.

“We are very happy Fernando is back because it is something that benefits all of us. Together with Aduriz he can cause fear.

“It’s very important a player like Llorente starts scoring goals as soon as possible. He did it with his first touch and we are very happy for him. ” he told Mundo Deportivo.

Llorente played in the Europa League tie with Slaven Belupo this season but fell out favour with fans after declaring his desire to leave the club, and De Marcos maintains it is up to boss Marcelo Bielsa whether he is selected to play at San Mames again.

“It’s not a decision for me. It is up the boss and I’ve no idea. The main thing is he scored a goal and that will give him a massive boost, but they are both two incredible strikers.

“I didn’t know Aduriz personally, just his football from what I had seen of him at Valencia and now Athletic, but he seems to be a forward who has everything.

“Now we have two in the team! We are lucky to have them both,” he concluded.
