Rayo gesture for out-of-work fans

Rayo Vallecano have announced that unemployed fans will be given free entry to their next home game against city rivals Real Madrid.

Rayo's decision to force all season-ticket holders to pay extra for the home meeting with Madrid last season came in for widespread criticism, and the club's President Raul Martin Presa announced yesterday that Rayo would once again be forcing everyone who wants to attend next Sunday's match to pay their way in.

However this time, Rayo will allow any season ticket holders currently out of a job into the match without paying.

“This year, in an act of solidarity towards those who are suffering the most, we will allow free entry to all season-ticket holders who are currently out of work,” Presa declared.

Rayo hail from the traditionally working class southern Madrid district of Vallecas, an area that has not escaped the economic crisis currently affecting Spain as a whole. The club themselves are currently in administration.
