Sevilla defender Alberto Botia admitted he was proud of his teammates, who he said gave everything in Saturday’s win over Real Madrid.
Piotr Trochowski’s second-minute strike proved enough for the Andalusians to overcome Jose Mourinho’s men and Botia said it was the product of hard work done off the pitch during the week.
“This was a very, very important victory for us and I am proud of my teammates because we had to suffer for this win against a team like Real Madrid. We gave everything,” said the former Sporting Gijon defender in declarations to Canal Plus.
“We have been working towards this match all week and have concentrated on remaining solid and pressing right from the start.”
