Montanier sees Zaragoza’s strength

Philippe Montanier has reflected that weekend visitors Real Zaragoza will present a tough challenge for his Real Sociedad side.

La Real play host on Sunday evening against a side that has lost 18 players from its books since last season and signed a further 13 in place.

It is a change of face that has Montanier preaching caution that things won’t be as easy in heading into Week 4 than perhaps they seemed in last term’s 3-0 home win over the Aragonese.

“They are a team that has the quality to trouble us at Anoeta. It will be a tough game, different from last season,” began the Coach to the Press ahead of the game.

“But, we also have what it takes to produce a quality performance.

“La Real is always bound to win at home. It’s true that it is a pressure, but it should serve as our gasoline. The Celta Vigo game was a good example.

“We have potential in attack, but we have to respect the balance of the team. We are playing at home and we will have to attack, but you have to also watch out for Zaragoza’s counter-attacks.

“We need to be at a good level offensively, but the whole team also needs to be careful in defence.”
