‘I want to win’ against Valencia

Celta Vigo Coach Paco Herrera has made it clear that whilst Valencia are the third best team in the League, he is intent on trying to beat them this weekend.

The Galicians travel across the country to Mestalla for Saturday evening’s League meeting with Los Che ahead of Mauricio Pellegrino’s team in the table, but underdogs for the encounter.

“Everyone says that Valencia are the best team in the ‘other League’, because it is undisputed that Real Madrid and Barcelona play in a different League,” reflected Herrera in looking forward to the clash.

“We are in that other League and Valencia are the forerunners. However, we are prepared and if we are to win at Mestalla then it will depend on our nerve, our ambition.

“We will have to fight a lot in the middle of the pitch because Valencia are very strong and they seal up the wings. Valencia have a great Coach and a team that has raised many hopes. But still, I am not throwing the towel in, I want to win this match.”

Even so, the Coach admitted that his team is still ‘not 100 per cent’.

“We’re a little short in terms of our weapons, our intensity, speed and rhythm with the ball. But, Valencia is a complicated place for the home team when things aren’t going well.

“Their fans have a penchant for always demanding control of the game, good football and dominance of the situation.”
