Adrian: Atletico game our incentive

Rayo Vallecano midfielder Adrian Gonzalez believes Sunday’s game with Atletico Madrid will prove an incentive for his team.

Los Franjirrojos go into the clash against their cross-city rivals sitting fourth in the table, three points in front of Atleti who have played a game less, and Adrian [pictured, right] is banking on the Vicente Calderon to inspire Paco Jemez’s men.

“In La Primera every game is tough. It’s true Atletico are coming off the back of winning the European Super Cup and that’s a positive thing for them.

“It will be difficult because they are at home, but to play there will also be an incentive for us. We’ve been playing well lately and will try to do so again,” he told a Press conference.

“We’ll play the way we have been doing and how the boss has asked us to. We’ll see what system he uses because he always surprises us, but the idea is to keep the ball and attack.”

On a personal level Adrian, who only arrived at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas two months ago following his move from Racing Santander, said he was very happy with things at Rayo.

“I’m pleased with the confidence the Coach has placed in me and I hope to play on Sunday.

“I’m happy with how things have been going and we’ve had a good start but against Atletico it will show how good we are.”
