No Celta excuses for Soldado

Valencia striker Roberto Soldado says there is no excuse not to take three points against Celta Vigo this weekend.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s team have earned two points from a possible nine this term, albeit there have been games against Real Madrid and Barcelona in the opening three La Liga fixtures, but Soldado insists that Los Che’s season must begin now.

“We have to get on with it, starting against Celta, so we have no excuses. We must continue with the good feelings we’ve had but now we must get results,” he told the club’s official television channel on arrival in Valencia after Spain’s 1-0 win in Georgia.

“We have much more to offer and we need to show that the team is going get better, but if you take away the game against Deportivo then we have played well.

“We would like to have taken more points but there are no excuses and we have to take all three against Celta.”

Soldado also spoke of Valencia’s clash with Bayern Munich in the Champions League next week.

“We are starting against the strongest team in the group. We have already faced Madrid and Barca and against Bayern it won’t get any easier,” he warned.

The 27-year-old also said he had received many messages of congratulation for his late winning goal against the Georgians on Tuesday.

“I’ve had messages from people all over the world and I thank them on such a special day for me. I hope there are more to come,” he added.
