Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera has today undergone groin surgery, according to the club's official website.
The 23-year-old travelled to Munich yesterday, along with the Bilbao's chief medical officer Josean Lekue, to correct a minor tear in his groin – also known as a sports hernia.
The operation was deemed a success by surgeon Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck, and will mean the former Zaragoza man will only be out for a period of six weeks.
Herrera will travel back to Bilbao tomorrow morning.
The Spain U21 international played 32 league games for Les Leones last season, scoring one goal.
