Cisma keen to extend Atleti stay

Returning Atletico Madrid full-back Domingo Cisma is intent on extending his second spell at the Calderon beyond this season.

The 30-year-old left-sided defender spent two years of his earlier days as a player on the books of the club’s B team, before returning this summer on a free transfer.

Cisma has signed an initial 12-month contract, but is determined to earn an extension.

“I want to help the team as much as I can and if they see fit, to stay here for more seasons,” he told reporters today.

“My goal is to reach a good physical condition quickly and to work to my maximum under the orders of [Coach Diego] Simeone as soon as possible.

“I know that he asks for effort. He is very demanding and looks to your performances. His requirement is great intensity.

“Competition for places? Silvio Manuel can play right or left-back, and I don’t think I’ve changed the plans for Jorge Pulido either. All I will do is try to convince Simeone.”
