Paco Herrera is delighted with the effort his Celta Vigo players put in to defeat Osasuna on Saturday afternoon.
The Galicians earned their first points of the new campaign to relieve pressure, says Herrera, going into the international break.
“The victory was deserved because the team played to win. For us it was important to win, to enjoy the next two weeks,” he enthused post-match today.
“When you do well and earn a break, it reinforces the morale. We deserved to win and we played as I wanted, I think we did a great deal.
“As I always say, to deserve to win you have to put a lot at stake, and today we all did that.
“Osasuna were today the same team that lost against Deportivo and deserved to draw against Barcelona.
“If this evening they appeared to play below par then it is because of the work of the Celta players.
“We must not detract at all from Osasuna, because I am sure they will eventually take flight and climb up to the top half of the table, as they expect.
“Today we won more for our merits than for their demerits.”
