Barcelona’s young centre-back Andreu Fontas will not leave on loan this summer, despite previous links with Real Zaragoza and Malaga.
Both Liga outfits were reportedly keen to take the tall defender for the season on loan from La Blaugrana, with Zaragoza understood to have been in advanced negotiations for his signature.
However, reports indicate that the player will be staying with Tito Vilanova’s squad until at least the mid-season transfer window opens.
Reports are split as to the reasoning behind the change of course, with some suggesting that Zaragoza and Malaga had turned down the opportunity to take the 22-year-old, but Mundo Deportivo implying that the decision was taken by the Catalans.
