Diarra could be Anzhi-bound

Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra could be bound for Russian after receiving a proposal from Anzhi Makhachkala.

El Economista reports Spanish journalist Guillem Balague as telling Sky Sports that the mega-rich Russians have tabled a significant offer to both Los Blancos and the player, one that might trigger an express move before Friday’s transfer deadline.

If the French international decides to leave the Santiago Bernabeu it could leave Madrid boss Jose Mourinho short on numbers in central midfield, having lost Esteban Granero to Queens Park Rangers just 24 hour earlier and Nuri Sahin to Liverpool.

In effect, the only first-team regulars Mourinho could call on in the position would be Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira and Luka Modric.

However, Diarra has been unsettled at the club for the last 18 months and has been linked with a move on several occasions, although he has so far been unable to agree terms with several clubs.
