Malaga bring in Iturra

Malaga have made their first signing of the 2012 summer transfer market, bringing in Manuel Iturra on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old is seen as a direct replacement in midfield for Italian Enzo Maresca, who is on the verge of making official his anticipated transfer out to Sampdoria.

Iturra is reported as having been previously unattached, albeit with an investment fund holding ownership of his playing rights.

The Chilean midfielder, who has previously played in his home country for Universidad de Chile and in Portugal for Uniao de Leiria, becomes new Argentine sporting director Mario Husillos’ first signing in his new role, and also the club’s first arrival of a difficult summer.

Husillos is familiar with the player, having previously signed Iturra to a season-long loan at Murcia last summer.
