Ozil: And now, Europe

Mesut Ozil is pleased to have become an important player at Real Madrid and calls on his teammates to target the Champions League this season.

The German played an integral role in last year’s run to the La Liga title and in preparing to kick off this season at home to Valencia tomorrow evening, remains bullish looking ahead.

“The objectives in Madrid are always the same – to collect the highest number of possible titles,” reflected the German in today’s Press conference.

“This is my third season with Real Madrid. I am a starter in a very important position. I am proud of it. “When I first arrived, few people trusted that I could achieve the goals I’ve achieved so far with this great club.

“Now that I have won the League and Cup, the next step will come, I’m sure. Winning the League last season has made us even stronger. We are prepared.”

The player was honest when asked whether this meant prioritising the Champions League over the Primera Division

“Both are important, but the Champions League is a competition I have not yet won. Winning the League is a regular prize.”
