Jemez wants Rayo surprise

Paco Jemez wants his Rayo Vallecano side to be the surprise package of the 2012-13 League campaign.

Jemez is preparing for his first season in La Liga as a Coach and he is planning for it to be a surprise with the Madrid minnows, who only narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of last season.

“We are lowest when it comes to the budget category, but that is not the most important factor, we want to be a surprise, the team that no-one has counted on, who are right in there,” he told reporters today.

“We are who we are and we will compete until the end.”

The side will begin their second consecutive season in the top flight by welcoming Granada to the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.

“Granada is a rival who has built a great team, who wants the ball, are well armed and who knows what they do best and they are strong.

“However, any team that wants to win will have to be better and more intense than us. In intensity and sacrifice, no-one will beat us. That has to be one of our weapons.”
