Sevilla continue to be linked with Roger Espinoza, who plays for Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer.
According to Estadio Deportivo, rumours have surfaced in the Press back in Espinoza’s native Honduras that the 25-year-old is about to join the Andalusians before the start of the season this weekend.
The defensive midfielder is just back from representing his country at the London Olympics, where Honduras reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out 3-1 by eventual runners-up Brazil.
Besides Sevilla’s interest, Espinoza has also attracted the attention of other La Liga clubs, most notably Atletico Madrid, Getafe and Real Mallorca.
However, the player was non-committal when speaking of his future but says that Sporting Kansas City – formerly the Kansas City Wizards before being re-named in November 2010 – have first call on his services.
“My contract is due to expire but I still need to talk to the club. They have first option as they have treated me so well,” he explained.
