Real Sociedad striker Imanol Agirretxe says his team is ready for the start of the new La Liga season.
The Basques’ opening fixture could not have been more difficult, with a trip to the Camp Nou to face Barcelona, but the 25-year-old believes Philippe Montanier’s men are firing on all cylinders.
“This team is ready to begin the season. There are still things that could be improved upon but are taking things step by step.
“We have had a great pre-season with some good matches and some hard work, which is what we were looking for,” he told EFE.
Agirretxe appeared in 36 La Liga games for Sociedad last season, scoring 10 goals and striking up a prolific partnership with Carlos Vela, and will be hoping for similar success this time around.
The Txuri-urdin have been based in Parma, Italy, in the run-up to Sunday’s game against Tito Vilanova’s men and have played four games in a week, the latest a 4-2 victory over Varese.
