Dos Santos nears Barca exit

Barcelona have decided to send midfielder Jonathan Dos Santos either out on loan or transferred with an option to buy him back.

According to AS, Barca boss Tito Vilanova has almost all the positions in his squad covered and is expected to bring in at least one more signing, meaning the Mexican international is surplus to requirements for the coming season.

The 22-year-old has been with La Blaugrana since 2008 after impressing in a trial after Barca scouts had spotted him during a youth tournament in France.

However, his progress has not been what was expected and despite being a regular for the club’s B team he has made just one La Liga start in a game against Villarreal in January 2010.

Favourites for his signature appear to be Sevilla, who are understood to have made a formal approach for the player, and he may not be the only one to be departing the Camp Nou.

Winger Cristian Tello has not been given a squad number for next term and it is probable he will leave before the end of the transfer window, with Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Arsenal all believed to be chasing him.

Ibrahim Afellay is another whose future is uncertain although the Dutch international could remain with the club, at least for now.
