Fontas gets green light at Barca

Andreu Fontas has received the green light to resume his career by Barcelona club doctors after seven months on the sidelines.

The central defender suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the 13th minute of a Copa del Rey game against Osasuna back in January, causing him to miss the remainder of the 2011-12 campaign.

Now, however, the 22-year-old Spain Under-21 international says he can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel and sent a message of thanks to the medical services via his official Twitter account.

“I want to give special thanks to Ramon Cougat and the teams at both the club and Quiron [a Barcelona clinic] for their great help in my recovery. Thanks.

“Today is a great day as I have been medically discharged.

“Thank you to everybody for their support during these past few months that have been so hard. I am ready to give everything!”
