Gago’s agent slates Madrid

Fernando Gago’s agent has blasted Real Madrid over the way the 26-year-old has been treated at the club.

The Argentine midfielder spent last season on loan at Roma, where he made 30 Serie A appearances, but the Italians have refused to take up the option to buy and Gago could now be forced to return to the Santiago Bernabeu, something his representative Marcelo Lombilla says he wishes to avoid.

“Gago will not try to convince Mourinho because he knows he does not want him” Lombilla explained in an interview with Deportes COPE.

“To have to go somewhere they don’t want you is the worst thing that can happen in life, but we cannot speculate about things and even more so with the club that gave him the opportunity to be what he is today.

“In his last spell as a Real Madrid player you would have thought he had scabies, and it was pretty bad.

“If it was up to me he would have gone somewhere else a month ago, but at no time is it going through his head that he wants to turn up for pre-season training on July 16.”

On Gago’s possible destination, Lombilla admitted there had been no tangible offers as yet.

“He does not want to go to Russia or Turkey and will not play at just any place.

“There was no agreement with Roma and we are now listening to other clubs, yet there have been no proposals,” he concluded.
