Alexis returns to Getafe

ABC reports that defender Alexis Ruano will return to Getafe on a season-long loan from Sevilla.

The 26-year-old centre-back spent the latter part of the 2011-12 season on loan at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez after being allowed to join last February with El Geta immersed in an injury crisis, his second spell with the Madrid club following his €2.5m signing from Malaga in 2006.

However, he fell out of favour with Sevilla last season and, despite having a contract until 2015, President Jose Maria del Nido is keen to get him off the books as he is one of the club’s highest earners.

As a result, Getafe have agreed to pay the bulk of his wages – thought to be above 70 per cent – as they need to replace Daniel ´Cata` Diaz who has signed for Atletico Madrid.

Getafe sold Alexis to Valencia for €6m in July 2007 and after three years at the Mestalla he was transferred to Sevilla for €5m, although he has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot with the Andalusians since and has made just 22 La Liga appearances in two seasons.
