Money no motivator, insists Vinicius

Vinicius Junior has refuted claims his transfer to Real Madrid was motivated by money and insisted his sole focus is on current club Flamengo.

The 16-year-old’s signing by Real Madrid was announced on Tuesday for a reported fee of €45m, but he will not leave the Brazilian club until the summer of 2019.

"My agent, my parents and Flamengo sorted everything out on my behalf," Vinicius told Fox Sports Brasil after a Copa win over Atletico Goianiense.

“I'm not thinking about money, I am focused on playing and giving joy to the fans here.

"I'm very happy with the negotiations and the move but my head isn't in Madrid, I'm not thinking about it. I'm only focused on Flamengo.

"I now have to take it step by step and conquer titles with this club, only after all of that will I turn my attention to Real Madrid."
