Nasri under investigation

Samir Nasri will be questioned on the intravenous drip treatment he received in Los Angeles amid concerns he broke anti-doping rules.

The Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) – who covers anti-doping in the country – confirmed on Wednesday that the Manchester City player on loan at Sevilla is now under investigation.

"AEPSAD has initiated the appropriate steps to clarify what treatment was received by the player Samir Nasri,” read a statement on the AEPSAD twitter page.

The Drip Doctors clinic say the French midfielder received their "Immunity IV Drip" designed to "combat superbugs and common viruses” and involves a litre of hydration, which appears to break the guidelines of the World Anti-Doping Agency, who impose a 50 millilitre limit for active athletes.

“Intravenous infusions and/or injections of more than 50ml per 6 hour period except for those legitimately received in the course of hospital admissions, surgical procedures or clinical investigations,” reads the WADA rule.

Drip Doctors have made no further comment on the matter while Sevilla say that all information available is currently in the media.
