Former Villarreal boss Marcelino appears to have lost the race to become Inter’s new Coach, with ex-Lazio man Stefano Pioli now the favourite.
According to Marca, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio will see his wish come true of Pioli being appointed over Marcelino, who was the name put forward by the intermediary of the club’s Chinese owners, Kia Joorabchian.
The development also comes despite the Spaniard having held several meetings with Joorabchian in Milan over the past couple of days.
Inter, for their part, have since released a statement on their official website confirming that a permanent successor to Frank de Boer will be installed within the next 48 hours.
