Prandelli: Spain more respectful

New Valencia coach Cesare Prandelli has outlined the differences between Spanish and Italian football, saying the former is more ‘respectful’.

The former Italian national team boss also revealed he turned down the chance of taking over Napoli and how he was settling into Spanish life.

“Italian football has more pressure than the respectful Spain. Their culture is not the result but the style of play and always the respect,” Prandelli said on TV show "Calciomercato- L'Originale.

"Today, players & managers tend to move away from the everyday public, and this detachment may turn into hatred in football.

“Valencia is a city that welcomes the cultural differences. People love to live here.

"We returned late upon the win at Sporting. Youth team kids were waiting to celebrate with us – it was a strong emotion and sense of belonging.”

Prandelli’s first home game at the Mestalla is against champions Barcelona on Saturday.

"The last time I was up against Barcelona striker Suárez was during the World Cup (biting Chiellini). Will meet him in 3 days but I do not have any prejudice,” explained the former Galatasary boss.

"Preparing a game against Barcelona isn't easy. You can't stop the talent, only hinder it. You just have to seize their weak moments".
