Bale likely to miss Espanyol trip

Gareth Bale appears likely to miss Real Madrid's weekend trip to Espanyol as a result of his injury sustained against Sporting CP.

Bale hobbled off at half time in the Champions League clash, and whilst he emerged for the second half, he was replaced with just over twenty minutes remaining by Lucas Vazquez, and he is set to go undergo a medical test on Thursday to evaluate the extent of any damage.

Marca now report that Real Madrid will not risk aggrevating any injury as they will leave him out of the squad to travel to the RCDE stadium this weekend, with the aim to have Bale back available for the match against Villarreal on Wednesday.

The absence of the Welsh forward is likely to give an opening to either James Rodriguez or Vazquez, while Matteo Kovacic is also likely to be included in the squad for the trip to Catalonia.
