Victor Sanchez doesn’t feel Deportivo La Coruna’s defeat to Real Madrid was his last game as Coach at Riazor.
Rumours Victor would be replaced have abounded in Galicia after a dire second half of the season but he told reports after the 2-0 reverse that he expects to stay on.
“I didn’t get the feeling that was my last game at Depor,” AS quotes the trainer as saying, Victor also praising the retiring Stipe Pletikosa and Manuel Pablo, who may also hang up his boots.
“Pletikosa’s behaviour has been exemplary. Manuel? He didn’t have the rhythm of playing and it wasn’t an easy game, but his level was sensational.”
Madrid took a two-goal lead inside 30 minutes and held on to full time but missed out on the title to Barcelona, who beat Granada, a result Victor felt affected their match.
“Madrid showed their power in the first half, scoring twice and dominating the game,” he acknowledged.
“In the second half, perhaps because of the score with Barca, they slowed down, we had our chances and the intention was to give the fans a better result, but it wasn’t to be. In any case, we were able to celebrate staying up, which was most important for the club.”
