Neville: Valencia relaxed against 10

Gary Neville felt Valencia dropped their tempo when Real Madrid had Mateo Kovacic sent off and said performances without results are worthless.

Los Che twice came from behind to level against Los Blancos, who played the final 20 minutes a man light, a factor Neville suggested his team didn’t capitalise on.

“Before the game I wanted to see a continuation of what I saw in the second half against Villarreal. The first 10 minutes cost us,” he said, AS reports.

“But then I saw an excellent performance. We’ve seen the talent of the young players for 90 minutes. But that’s not enough. We had a chance, and then Bale…that’s football.

“When we were against 10, possession was easier, we started playing slowly and we lacked speed. It looked like we could relax a bit. Then there were two or three mistakes to be avoided.

“What matters most to me is can we play well and get results, because without results its worthless.

“I think we played with speed between the 20th minute and the 70th. When we were against 10 we relaxed a bit because it was easier to have the ball. Madrid began to squeeze more and the game changed. But if we didn’t believe we wouldn’t have come back at 2-1. It’s not always easy to play against 10.”
