Del Bosque tests two XIs

Vicente Del Bosque split his Spain squad into what appeared to be two potential starting XIs ahead of Euro 2016 qualifiers with Luxembourg and Ukraine.

La Roja face the former on Friday and Del Bosque’s squad has seen four withdrawals, the latest of which saw Sergio Ramos replaced by Real Madrid teammate Nacho.

Marca reports Del Bosque separated the squad into two groups of 10 in 4-3-3 formations, one of which had Nacho partnering Gerard Pique in the centre of defence.

Juanfran was on the right of the back four and Cesar Azpilicueta the left, and Sergio Busquets, Santi Cazorla and Isco made up the midfield.

Pedro Rodriguez and David Silva were tasked with supporting striker Paco Alcacer.

The other group was made up of Mario Gaspar, Marc Bartra, Xabi Etxeita and Jordi Alba in defence.

Mikel San Jose anchored the midfield, joined by Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas, and Juan Mata, Alvaro Negredo and Nolito formed the front three.
