Ter Stegen wins best save

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has won UEFA’s award for the best save of 2014-15.

The German came top of the fan voting for a stop made against Bayern Munich, keeping out Robert Lewandowski at point blank range after a run from Thiago Alcantara.

Ter Stegen’s save took 28% of the vote – some 66,240 votes – and bested a Manuel Neuer effort against Roma and Gianluigi Buffon’s denial of Dani Alves in the Champions League final.

Sergio Rico also placed in the voting for a save in the Europa League final against Dnipro when he kept out Yevhen Konplyanka’s long-range effort. The pair are now teammates.
