Ernesto Valverde was most happy for the supporters of Athletic Bilbao after the Supercopa de Espana ended a 31-year wait for a trophy.
The 1984 Supercopa was the last silverware Athletic claimed but they ended that drought with a 5-1 aggregate win over Barcelona, 4-0 at San Mames and 1-1 at Camp Nou.
“The first half was very hard because they are very good and pressed a lot,” the Coach said, AS reports.
“In the second half we were good and we reached our objective. From the outside you might think we didn’t feel it too badly but yes, when they scored, we were shaken.
“We’ve finally achieved the trophy that these people deserve.”
