Berizzo demands Celta response

Eduardo Berizzo has demanded a ‘reaction’ from Celta Vigo when they travel to Levante in La Liga on Saturday.

The Galicians potentially find themselves in an unlikely relegation scrap after successive defeats to Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao, and the Coach has called for his side to fly out the traps at Ciutat de Valencia this weekend.

“This team have always been on alert. Some people expect us to lose, but the competitive edge of the team has never diminished,” he said at a Press conference.

“We’ve never occupied a position in which we’ve had to scramble away from the relegation zone [before now].

“Levante are a direct rival of ours in the race for survival. We must remember that [on Saturday].

“It’s an important game because we face a direct rival. We come [into the match] on the back of two losses, so we need to react.

“I hope we can find that reaction [at Levante]. We face a strong team at home and in need of points, so they will give much importance to the match.

“[Lucas Alcaraz] is a tricky opponent, who sends his teams out to attack and compete, so we’ll need maximum concentration all the way.

“We need to be strong and intense, adapt to their game plan and bring the match to our preferred pace.

“We haven’t been good at the beginning of our last three games [against Elche, Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao].

“We need to be extremely focused as mental preparation is very important. Every player has to find the fuel to burn.”
