Arda suffers thigh injury

Arda Turan was forced to pull out of Atletico Madrid training early today after suffering a muscular injury.

The Turkish attacking midfielder then underwent tests conducted by Rojiblancos medical staff, after which it was confirmed that the player had suffered ‘a myofascial muscle injury grade II between the semitendinosus and biceps femoris at the middle third of the posterior aspect of the right thigh,” according to the club’s website.

It is still hoped that Turan will be fit in time for the opening match of Atleti’s La Liga title defence, away to Rayo Vallecano on August 25.

Before that, Diego Simeone’s team take on Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, but Turan is suspended for that anyway.
