Bale: Madrid want six trophies

Gareth Bale has said Real Madrid will go into the season with the intention of winning all six competitions in which they are competing.

Madrid will vie for the European Super Cup, the Supercopa, Club World Cup, League, Copa del Rey and Champions League, defending the latter two.

Bale admitted that landing the six will be difficult but it was what the club wanted, while on a personal level, winning the European Super Cup in his Cardiff hometown is a particular ambition.

“Having the chance to win six titles is fantastic. We want them all but we know it’s hard,” he said, according to Marca.

“Our objectives are the same as any other season. We face six titles and we try to win every one of them. It’ll be a long season but we go for six titles.

“It’s very special to play the Super Cup in Cardiff and it’s the first trophy we’d win, but we’ll fight for all of them.”

Bale also denied that being Champions League holders foists more pressure onto Madrid, insisting that the club remains eager for success despite winning La Decima last year.

“It’s an exciting time when you’re the best team in Europe. I don’t know if there will be more pressure this season,” he continued.

“Everyone here, the players and Coach, wants to win everything. We’re still hungry.

“We want to retain the Champions League more than any other team. The secret is to have a great spirit in the team, to help each other on and off the pitch.

“It’ll be difficult to repeat the Champions League, but we will try.”
