Zidane: My role's totally different now

Zinedine Zidane has spoken of extended role at Real Madrid, revealing what is different from Jose Mourinho’s time at the club.

The Frenchman is now part of Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff at Santiago Bernabeu, and the former midfielder has admitted that he has a more integral part within the club.

“My role is totally different,” he told L’Equipe.

“With Mou I wasn't on the pitch. I didn't have meetings with him, and we didn't talk about the team or tactics.

“Now I have a real role in that regard. I have to give Ancelotti my opinion on the team. We talk about players and we chat.

"I've spoken to the squad at times, but that's not my job. I speak to the players in private, one-on-one”
