Midfielder David Albelda has officially left Valencia after 15 seasons in the first team and 351 appearances.
The 35-year-old indicated during the season and up to its climax that he was likely to walk away from Mestalla at the expiry of his contract this month.
Whilst reports were that a meeting with new Coach Miroslav Djukic, recently elected President Amadeo Salvo and sporting director Braulio Vazquez may have seen him change his mind, it was used by the player to confirm his decision.
In a meeting that lasted just 25 minutes, the veteran informed the trio of his ‘technical decision taken for the responsibility of the first team’.
Albelda will hold a Press conference in the coming days to explain his decision to the media.
