Postiga on Sevilla’s radar

Real Zaragoza striker Helder Postiga is on Sevilla’s radar for next season, according to Diario de Sevilla.

The Portuguese has already told relegated Zaragoza that he is not prepared to play in La Segunda next term and Sevilla boss Unai Emery is keen to bring him to the Sanchez Pizjuan, particularly since there is mounting speculation Alvaro Negredo could be sold to ease the club’s financial crisis.

Emery wants two recognised goalscorers for the 2012-13 campaign and it is reported Sevilla have already made contact with Postiga, scorer of 13 goals last term, with director of football Monchi having outlined the club’s project.

The 29-year-old still has a year left on his contract at La Romareda but relegation has put paid to any possibility of remaining with Zaragoza, and a few weeks ago his agent Jorge Mendes confirmed Sevilla was one of his possible destinations.

There has also been interest from the Premier League and if the Portuguese international decides to try his luck in England, then the Andalusians may well turn to another striker from a relegated team – Deportivo La Coruna’s Riki, a player Emery has acknowledged is under consideration.
