Diego Simeone refused to criticise Atletico Madrid for losing 4-1 at Camp Nou, instead declared that Barcelona are in a League of their own.
Barca are now nine points clear of Atleti, who still hold second spot in the table after Sunday’s results.
Whilst the Coach has taken the team on a strong start to the season, he was taken to task on defeats away to both Real Madrid and Barcelona this season.
“Let’s talk about the Barcelona game. I am leaving here with the flavour of a team that is good,” defended El Cholo to reporters post-match.
“We have tried to be competitive and we were in the game for a long time, but this is a boring League now.
“Barcelona are playing in a different championship from the rest. We had three clear goalscoring opportunities at the beginning and we had closed all the space for Barca to attack. But then Adriano showed up and shot.
“Going into the break Atletico had had more chances but were 2-1 behind. This match was defined by their concentration in front of goal.
“The first half was very good from Atletico. And in the second not so much, but we could not maintain the performance from the start.
“The effort was enormous. I liked the team and we lost to a team that plays in a different League to everyone else.”
