Puyol’s injury progress

Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has had the plaster removed from his cast as he continues his recovery from a dislocated left elbow.

The defender suffered the injury in the closing stages of Barca's 2-0 Champions League win over Benfica last week, falling hard on his arm after going up for a high ball.

“Hello everyone, today I have had the paster removed to make way for my new companion,” the Spanish international wrote on his Facebook page, making light hearted reference to a new cast which allows him to be more flexible.

“Another little step in my recovery. Greetings!”

Puyol is expected to return in late November, but as Blaugrana Coach Tito Vilanova recently noted, he has a propensity for recovering from injuries much sooner than expected.
