No Pique or Puyol? No problem

Statistics show that Barcelona may not miss Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique this weekend against Granada.

The duo are absent through respective injury for the visit of Granada on Saturday afternoon, but as Barca’s official website posted, statistics suggest it is of no concern.

From 24 previous games that the club have played when both men have been absent, the Catalans have lost just four times, with two of those defeats coming in games after the 2008-09 title had been secured and another in the 2010 Spanish Super Cup when they had no Spanish international players available.

The last defeat suffered without the duo on the pitch was during the 2009-10 Copa del Rey against Sevilla.

Meanwhile, the team have beaten the likes of Porto in the UEFA Super Cup and Arsenal in the Champions League in recent seasons without the pair of centre-backs available.

In total, Barcelona record a 71 per cent win percentage from matches played without Puyol and Pique playing.
