Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti remains cryptic on Toni Kroos future

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti did not give anything away regarding the future of Toni Kroos, with his contract up in less than two months. The Italian has maintained previously that he felt Kroos would continue with them, but did not do so on this occasion.

After confirming that Aurelien Tchouameni was a doubt for the Champions League final, Ancelotti was asked about Toni Kroos’ future. The question was prefaced with the idea that a few weeks ago there seemed to be certainty over his future, but now that had been cast into doubt. Kroos stayed out on the pitch at the Santiago Bernabeu after their win over Bayern Munich when the stadium was empty, and was joined by his family too.

“Before the Bayern game I thought that if they eliminated us, I would talk about the future of the players, but unfortunately, as we won, we have to push it back for a month,” the Italian manager said with a smile on his face.

Kroos has come out of international retirement, and will lead Germany into the Euros on home soil this summer. The 34-year-old has publicly played with the idea of retirement for the last two seasons, and maintained that he wants to go out on top, as a starter for Real Madrid.
