Luca Zidane: No regrets on Real Madrid exit

Goalkeeper Luca Zidane is adamant he has no regrets on leaving Real Madrid this summer to join Racing Santander on a loan deal.

The French youth international penned a season-long loan arrangement with the Cantabrian club, who are back in the second tier of Spanish football this campaign.

Zidane, son of Madrid boss Zinedine, left Madrid for more first-team playing opportunities but could potentially have found an opening this year had he stayed.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Luca Zidane has joined second tier side Racing Santander on a season-long loan deal, it has been confirmed.

The Cantabrian club were promoted to La Liga 123 this summer and have completed the signing of the goalkeeper, son of Madrid boss Zinedine.

The France youth international started in Madrid’s 3-2 league victory over Huesca at the end of March but had found first-team opportunities limited in the Spanish capital.

According to reports in Marca this weekend, the club based in the south of Madrid, want to bring the 21-year old to the Estadio Fernando Torres for the 2019-20 campaign.

Luca Zidane could leave Real Madrid on loan

Real Madrid Luca Zidane goal keeper could leave the club on loan ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Zidane, 21, made just one La Liga appearance in 2018-19 and his father, Los Blancos boss, Zinedine stated that he would remain third choice keeper, with Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas ahead of him.

Zidane Snr had previously stated that he wanted to keep his son at the club, particularly as Navas could be leaving in the coming weeks after being told that Courtois will be first choice in 2019-20.

Zidane wants Luca as Real Madrid backup goalkeeper

Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane is at odds with the club over the back-up goalkeeper for Thibaut Courtois next season, say Marca.

It is said that the Frenchman wants his son Luca to provide the back-up for the Belgian international, although the club’s board believes Andriy Lunin is the stronger option.

This follows on from Madrid telling Keylor Navas that he was surplus to requirements at the club and would be made available for transfer this summer.

Zinedine Zidane insists his son Luca was selected for Real Madrid against Huesca on Sunday based on his own merits.

The 20-year-old was selected ahead of Keylor Navas and Thibaut Courtois for the victory, with the boss indicating his son could feature more in times to come.

“Luca is selected because of his own hard work, nothing else,” Zidane told reporters on Tuesday.

Luca Zidane: I am proud to make Bernabeu debut

Real Madrid goal keeper Luca Zidane has spoken of his pride at playing his first senior game at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 20 year-old was handed his first start of the 2018-19 season by father Zinedine, after first team goal keepers Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas were not fit to start for Los Blancos.

"I am very proud to play here at the Bernabeu.

"I have come through the youth team at the club, and after many years of hard work I am pleased to make my home debut."
