Diego Maradona linked to Elche job

Spanish second division side Elche have been linked to appointing Argentine football legend Diego Maradona as their new boss.

A report in Marca cites the influential Argentine Christian Bragarnik as being close to a takeover of the Spanish club and he could bring Maradona - currently at the helm of Argentine side Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata - with him.

All LaLiga123 matches to be broadcast live on YouTube

La Liga have confirmed matches across Spain’s second tier will be broadcast live on their YouTube channel in a new contractual deal.

Friday night’s Andalusian derby between Cadiz and Granada has been confirmed as the first match to be played on the online video playing website.

The matches will be broadcast live with English commentary in more than 150 countries in what is described as ‘major markets’ across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Cordoba appoint former Valencia star Curro Torres

Cordoba have appointed former Valencia midfielder Curro Torres as their new Coach to replace the outgoing Jose Ramon Sandoval.

Torres spent a decade in Los Che’s first-team squad between 1999 and 2009 whilst also winning five caps for the Spanish national team.

The 41-year-old German-born Coach has previously been at the helm of Valencia’s B team along with Lorca and Croatian side NK Istra 1961.

Ruben Baraja 'thankful' to Sporting Gijon after sacking

Ruben Baraja is ‘very grateful’ to Sporting Gijón for his year in charge of the club despite being dismissed this weekend.

Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Real Oviedo, in the Asturian derby, saw the former Valencia midfielder sacked from the role at which he was appointed last December.

“The results, we accept as professionals, determine the reality, but do not reflect the work done,” Baraja wrote in an open letter to fans on the club’s website.

Man City want Sporting Gijon's Pelayo Morilla

Manchester City have been scouting Sporting Gijon’s teenage winger Pelayo Morilla ahead of a possible approach, say reports.

The Spain Under-19 international has made two substitute appearances in the Spanish second tier this season and netted in the Copa del Rey win over Numancia earlier this season.

A report in the Daily Mirror say City boss Pep Guardiola has ensured the 17-year-old is being extensively scouted, while he is out of contract in Gijon in June 2020.

Malaga pledge funds to local floods

Malaga will donate all proceeds from their forthcoming match against Numancia to those affected by flooding in the region.

Devastating flash floods have hit the Costa del Sol, leaving one fireman dead and scores homeless with emergency services deployed.

The club’s president Abdullah Al Thani (pictured right) is heading the initiative with the club stating “we do not want to appear oblivious to the devastating situation that thousands of people from Malaga are experiencing.”

Real Zaragoza confirm Lucas Alcaraz appointment

Real Zaragoza have confirmed the appointment of experienced Coach Lucas Alcaraz to replace the outgoing Imanol Idiakez.

Alcaraz has coached across the top two levels of Spanish football across the last two decades and was most recently at the helm of Almeria, whom he left in May.

Zaragoza have picked up just two victories in their 10 league matches this season and sit just three places above the drop zone.

“Today is a hard day on a professional and personal level,” sporting director Lalo Arantegui told reporters, as cited by club media.

LaLiga123: Tenerife sack Joseba Etxeberria

Struggling La Liga 123 club Tenerife have dismissed Coach Joseba Etxeberria, the former star of Athletic Club Bilbao and Spain.

The news has not yet been made official but Cadena Ser say the Islanders squad was called into an emergency meeting on Monday morning when they were informed of the decision.

Tenerife have not won any of their five league matches to date this season, although three of those matches have ended in draws.

Las Palmas sign De La Bella

Las Palmas have completed the signing of defender Alberto De La Bella from Real Sociedad on a free transfer, it has been confirmed.

The defender has joined Los Amarillos on a two-year contract with an option for a third and becomes the latest signing in a rebuilding job at the Gran Canarian club.

De La Bella will provide competition for Dani Castellano at the club and joins summer arrivals Ruben Castro, Juan Cala, Rafa Mir and Alvaro Lemos, among others.

Rayo to sign Cadiz's Alvaro Garcia

Rayo Vallecano are closing in on the signing of midfielder Alvaro Garcia from La Liga 123 side Cadiz, according to reports in the Spanish press.

The 25-year-old has featured 77 times for Los Gaditanos in the Spanish second tier across the past two seasons after playing a significant role in the club’s promotion in 2016.

The creative midfielder is known for his technical ability and calmness in possession, starting his career at semi-professional side San Fernando before a move to Granada in 2013 as a 20-year-old.
