'Madrid wanted Mbappe', Perez confirms

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed the club thought about signing Kylian Mbappe this summer before he joined Paris Saint-Germain.

The teenage superstar joined the Parisians from Ligue 1 rivals Monaco, initially on a season-long loan deal, while Madrid sold striking duo Alvaro Morata and Mariano Diaz.

“Yes we did think about (signing) Mbappe (over the summer) but we have a very complete squad,” Perez said on a wide-ranging interview with El Espanol.

Agent: Mbappe wanted Barca

Agent Josep Maria Minguella claims Kylian Mbappe “wanted to join Barcelona” and that the Catalans “could’ve had him for €150m.”

Minguella is known for his close links to Barca and playing a key role in taking Lionel Messi to the club, and the representative suggested Mbappe was ready to replace Neymar at Camp Nou over the summer, having been put off by the presence of BBC at Real Madrid.

“Mbappe said he only wanted to sign for Barcelona when he learned that Neymar was going to PSG,” he told Cadena COPE.

Mbappe told Dembele: Go to Barca

Kylian Mbappe has revealed he advised France international teammate Ousmane Dembele to join Barcelona last month.

Mbappe himself joined Paris Saint-Germain in an initial loan agreement from Monaco while Dembele, 20, completed his move to the Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund.

“We talked about his future and he asked me what I thought he should do, so I told him to go there (to Barcelona) because it was a fantastic chance for him,” Mbappe told Footmercato.

Kylian Mbappe has explained why he joined Paris Saint-Germain over Real Madrid. “It’s the perfect project for me, and I’ll play.”

Mbappe was heavily tipped to join Madrid due to his support for Los Blancos and their sales of several attackers, but the teenage forward ultimately left Monaco for PSG in a deal only eclipsed by Neymar’s €222m transfer from Barcelona.

“I’m very happy to have joined such a big club,” he said after France’s 4-0 win against Netherlands.

Madrid still in Mbappe race

Real Madrid are still holding out hope of signing Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe but their offer is inferior to Paris Saint-Germain’s, say reports.

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solehol, the Parisians have offered the 18-year-old a staggering €350k per week, a massive increase from his current €17.5k weekly salary at the French champions.

Madrid have also approached the teenager, who is said to be a fan of the club, but their contract offer is said to be €130k.

Madrid accept Mbappe defeat?

Real Madrid are not expected to sign any forwards this summer after reportedly accepting that Kylian Mbappe will join Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Marca, Madrid’s board and Coach Zinedine Zidane both agreed to “leave the squad as it is and rely on BBC” after “Mbappe’s departure to PSG”.

Paris Saint-Germain have beaten Real Madrid to the signing of Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe after reaching a €180m, say multiple reports.

Various media outlets across Europe including Marca, AS, Diario Sport and El Mundo Deportivo all report on the landmark deal for the French teenager strike, who had been strongly linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

It looks to be the second massive blow the Parisians have landed on La Liga after the world record €222m agreement for Neymar from Barcelona earlier this month.
